This is the Garten (garden ) that my in-laws have in Berlin. There are colonies of gardens all over Berlin. They were started before WW1 and are called Schrebergarten and were made so that the German city dwellers could have fresh air and later vegitables and fruits. Most of them are along railroad right-o-ways. This garden has 2 small buildings, one for living and the other for storage. The rules of the association do not allow permanent residency. It is about 6K away from their apartment and travel takes 30 minutes by bus or 10 minutes by auto.
