This is the passge way from Rankestrasse to the court yard
we could see and hear from our hotel room. On the right was
the Vietnamese restaurant and on the left a bar. Lots of older
buildings were built this way with hinter (behind) courts and
like this one was connected to a second court yard. Some of
the passage ways were only for foot traffic and were only
availble through the entrance to the apartments that were above. Since lots of buildings had businesses on the ground floor (Erdgeschoss) the floor above it was called the first floor. So we were on the third floor but acually to us the 4th floor.
Something that we thought was unusual was the office, registration desk and dining room were on 4th floor.
