In late May and early June Germany has an unofficial holiday season -
Spargel Time. Spargel is German for asparagus.
The Spargel is white
because it is grown under ground. If you go out where it is
grown , like in Balitz, you will see long fields with 2 foot high mounds covered
with white plastic where they grow Spargel.
Silke made this wonderful dish with Spargel and small meat balls and a white
sauce that was VERY delicious.
Angie and I asked for the recipe, but Silke never gave us one.
