On the second morning in Berlin Chris and I walked from our hotel down Tauentzienstrasse toward Wittenberg Platz for breakfast at Edeka (supermarket) at about 10am. After eating we went to the bus stop and waited for the bus to take us to Koe nigsalee. It was running late and we heard sirens of lots of police, fire trucks, and ambulances. When the bus came we drove past our street Rankestrasse and we saw debris in the street going the other way and there was a covered body on the street. The article from the newspaper Berlin Morganpost shows how the driver came down Kudamm, drove on the side walk and hit a number of school kids at 10:26, went back on street and hit and killed a teacher then drove on Tauentzienstrasse and tried to turn into a side street and ended up driving into a store front. We did not know what had happened until later.
